Sydney's race day calendar
Sydney has two major metropolitan racecourses: Royal Randwick in the eastern suburbs and Rosehill Gardens in the west. The Sydney racing calendar runs year-round, with the biggest events concentrated in spring and autumn — The Everest and Golden Rose at Rosehill, the Sydney Cup and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick, and the two major carnival weeks in April and October.
Melbourne Cup day in November is celebrated across Sydney as a public holiday in some workplaces, with hosted lunches, marquee events and broadcast viewings at venues across the city. For guests travelling from interstate or attending a hosted function, a chauffeur is often the cleanest solution for the day.
Why travel to the races by chauffeur?
Race days at Randwick and Rosehill draw large crowds, which means limited parking, peak-hour congestion around the course and long queues for taxis and rideshares at the end of the day. A pre-booked chauffeur avoids all of that: the car is waiting when the meeting ends and the fare is the same as when you booked, regardless of demand.
For groups attending in finery — suits, race-day hats, formal dress — arriving and departing in a luxury vehicle is also part of the occasion. A chauffeur handles the doors and manages the group so everyone arrives together and on time.
- No parking to find or fees to pay near the course
- Fixed fare confirmed at booking — no end-of-day surge pricing
- Car is waiting when the last race finishes
- Arrive together as a group in one vehicle
- Suitable for corporate marquee guests and VIP arrivals
Getting to Randwick racecourse
Royal Randwick is in the eastern suburbs, roughly 7 kilometres from the Sydney CBD and accessible via Anzac Parade or Alison Road. On major race days traffic on the surrounding streets slows significantly in the hour before and after main events. Your chauffeur plans the route and timing to drop you at the gate with time to spare, and positions for the return at the end of racing.
For corporate guests being collected from CBD hotels, the Randwick run is around 15 to 25 minutes in good conditions and 30 to 45 minutes during peak arrivals. Booking early in the day avoids the last-minute crowd.
Getting to Rosehill Gardens racecourse
Rosehill Gardens is in Parramatta, approximately 25 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD via the M4 or the Western Motorway. From the CBD the drive is around 35 to 50 minutes depending on conditions. Rosehill attracts a corporate marquee crowd for its major events, and multi-vehicle bookings for company groups are common.
For guests arriving from Sydney Airport to Rosehill directly — a common requirement for The Everest and other spring carnival days — the run takes around 45 to 60 minutes. We can combine an airport pickup with the racecourse drop-off in a single booking.
Melbourne Cup day in Sydney
Melbourne Cup day is a public holiday in Victoria but is celebrated across Sydney through hosted lunches, marquee events and venue functions. For guests attending a Cup day lunch or a corporate function in the CBD or at a Sydney venue, a chauffeur handles both the arrival and the return at the end of the afternoon — when taxis and rideshares are busiest.
Groups attending Melbourne Cup functions can book hourly hire for the day, keeping the vehicle and driver with the group for arrivals, departures and any movements between events.
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book a chauffeur for race day?
For major race days — The Everest, Sydney Cup, major carnival Saturdays — book at least a week ahead. On peak race days demand for chauffeurs and premium cars is high and vehicles sell out. For Melbourne Cup day functions in Sydney, book as early as possible.
Can you collect a group from multiple addresses before the races?
Yes. Multi-stop pickups are straightforward with as-directed hourly hire. Give us the addresses and the order and we plan the run so everyone is collected and at the course on time.
Do you cover corporate marquee arrivals at Randwick and Rosehill?
Yes. Corporate marquee arrivals are one of the most common race-day bookings. We coordinate multi-vehicle movements for larger groups and can work to a timed arrival schedule if your host requires it.
Can the chauffeur wait during the races and take us home afterwards?
Yes. As-directed hourly hire books the vehicle for the full period — the driver waits during the meeting and takes you home when racing ends. For point-to-point bookings, we schedule the return as a separate transfer timed to the last race.
